Wine Lovers Getaways at Chateau Haut Garrigue's Wild Earth Vineyards - relax and discover wine in France
Caroline Feely organises Wine Lovers Getaways packed with vineyard and wine-related activities for groups of 4-10 people at our property and others in the Dordogne. Guests are accomodated at a beautiful vineyard estate 15 minutes drive from Bergerac (direct flights from Southampton and Stansted) and 1 hour 30 from Bordeaux (direct flights from Ireland and UK). The escape includes winery tours, tastings, bookings at fabulous restaurants, vineyard walks and charming accommodation complete with magnificent views. Prices including accommodation but excluding meals from €250pp (£170) in the low season.
A sample Wine Lovers Getaway itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Bergerac or Bordeaux, pick up a hire-car and drive to Chateau Haut Garrigue. Welcome drinks with the owners followed by dinner at a restaurant nearby or at the Estate.
Day 2: Wine-tasting at a neighbouring chateau followed by lunch in Saussignac. In the afternoon - weather permitting and depending on the group’s energy levels - a walk through the vineyards (self-guided using a map and directions provided) and another winery visit on the walking route. Alternatively an unaccompanied visit to St Emilion (45 mins drive from Saussignac) - a beautiful medieval village and home of many Bordeaux Grand Crus (for those flying out of Bordeaux we normally plan this for the last day as it is en route).
Day 3: A tour of Bergerac including the wine museum and the Maison des Vins. The self-guided walking tour of Bergerac to explore the medieval town. Lunch at a café in Bergerac. In the afternoon a tour of the vineyard and winery at Chateau Haut Garrigue followed by wine-tasting. An overview of a year in the vineyard and work in progress (dependant on the time of year). Dinner at a fine restaurant offering a good choice of local wines about 10 minutes from Chateau Haut Garrigue.
Day 4: A guided visit to three other wine estates in the region that are off the beaten track and offer excellence and value for money. Lunch organised en route. Dinner at a fine restaurant in Monbazillac, a well-known dessert wine region about 15 minutes from Chateau Haut Garrigue.
Day 5: Fly home.

Chateau Haut Garrigue is 1 hr 30 drive from Bordeaux airport (direct flights from Ireland, UK, Paris etc) and 15 minutes by car from Bergerac airport (direct flights from the UK). The ferry ports are an 8-10 hour drive away.
